Hello Virginia Beach Business Owner!
My name is Leigha Baer, and I too, am a local business owner in Virginia Beach.
After 20+ years of owning and operating a full service marketing agency in Charleston, SC, I sold my business and decided to travel for a few years to see the country and figure out where I wanted to spend my retirement. I traveled from coast to coast with my two dogs Sugar, a chocolate Lab, and Lily, a 5 lb. Yorkie.
Traveling like that was a lot of fun, and a great experience. It was exciting to meet new friends, and to spend some quality time with old friends and family. But after awhile, it’s also exhausting. So, after 4 years, I’ve settled down in Virginia Beach. My oldest daughter, who is one of 4 grown children, and her family live here. It’s nice to be closer to my family.
Retirement hasn’t worked out for me. Mainly, for three reasons. First, I see everything from a marketing perspective and I can’t turn it off. I have tried for the last 4 years. Second, I like the extra money. But mostly, I just miss working. I enjoy getting up each day with a purpose, going out and meeting people, talking shop, getting caught up in the flow of what’s happening in the community, and finding out how I can help other small business owners.
So, settled in, I decided to go back to work. I knew I didn’t want to start another marketing agency, that’s too big of a task to take on. I wanted to do what I thought would have the most impact for a local business. So, after much thought, I’ve focused my services on business printing and direct mail marketing. Both, are marketing powerhouses! I’m also a bit of a nerd when it comes to AI and the automation that it can provide to local businesses. I’d love to fill you in on that!
But here’s the problem…
I don’t know anybody here! No business contacts, no friends, and nobody knows who I am either. But I do know this: as a small business owner, I know it’s going to require advertising to grow my business. I am aware of how important advertising is to my success. I also know that advertising is expensive, and it’s almost impossible to get the word out about my business without advertising.
That’s why I started the Virginia Beach Spotlight.
By sharing the cost of designing, printing, and mailing my big co op postcards, we can all get the exposure we need, pick up some new business, and benefit from the savings.
There’s something else that’s important to me.
I want to give something back. I believe in giving back to the community. That is why I am committed to donating 10% of the profits I earn back to the Virginia Beach Community. I will be donating to various community organizations that help VB thrive, and my advertisers will have a hand in who that is each month.
The way I see it, that’s a win for me, a win for you, and a win for the community. It doesn’t get better than that in business!
I’m looking forward to learning what wonderful things this new chapter of my life in Virginia Beach will bring, and I also look forward to meeting you and potentially working together.
